Angela Ryan Baltor was born in New York City in 1995. Two years later, her family moved to Singapore, traveling extensively before returning to America four years later. Ryan is the creator of Blue Snail Collective, a world inspired by our variant yet common humanity and the many shades and textures of love and grief.

She works primarily as a painter, but also enjoys experimenting with other materials in sculptural assemblage. Her creative process is intuitive, a vulture's methodology of scavenging, digesting, and sifting. By listening to and reorganizing materials, she finds a natural sense of order and aliveness through the work.

She currently resides in California, on Wiyot land, where her snail friends are plentiful. In addition to her work as an artist, she works at a local Montessori preschool as well as the nonprofit A Mother’s Village.
